Preparing The Soil For Growing Apple Trees

Before you even plant your apple tree, soil preparation is really crucial for the healthy growth. If you don’t do this the right way, all your work and efforts will go to waste. So, in this article I will try to explain briefly, what you can do to prepare the soil before planting the apple tree.

You need to start preparation at least a month before. You need to do this as it will give some time for soil to be settled and be ready for the planting. So, you start with digging a whole, where you will plant your apple tree. The hole needs to be 2 feet (around 60 cm) deep and 4 feet (around 120 cm) wide. After you made the hole, you need to fill it with organic composts and materials.

You need pay attention to one thing, when you are preparing the soil for your plant. For instance if the ground has been fertilised and treated for other types of vegetation previously, you must avoid adding more fertilisers. This will only allow the tree gets bigger but it will not yield any fruits, when the time comes.

You need to remember that, apple trees needs to be grown in pairs for the purpose of pollination. A single tree by itself won’t be able to get pollinated. So, when you are digging the holes and preparing the soil, you need to do it for at least two trees. Also, you need to ensure that the holes are 8 feet apart from each other.
